Obituary
POCA - Mrs. Sylvia C. Landers, 68, of Poca, died Thursday in Thomas Memorial
Hospital. Surviving: husband, Brady; daughters, Mrs. Nettie Hively and Mrs.
Helen Stricklen, both of Nitro, Mrs. Doris Jones of Winston-Salem, North
Carolina, Elizabeth Pauline Landers, at home; brothers, Lennis Martin of
Akron, Ohio, Cyril (sic: Searrel) Martin of Phillipine Islands; sisters,
Mrs. Marie Halley of Poca, Mrs. Gladys Whittington of South Charleston.
Service 2 pm Saturday, Gaten Funeral Home, Poca, the Rev. Sherman Witt.
Lilly Cemetery, Poca. Callers after 4 pm today.

Mrs. Sylvia C. Landers, a lifelong resident of the Poca area, died last
Thursday at Thomas Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1903, she was the daughter of William and Mattie Melton Martin.
Survivors: husband, Brady; daughters, Mrs. Nettie Hively and Mrs. Helen
Stricklen of Nitro, Mrs. Doris Jones of Winston-Salem, N.C., Miss Elizabeth
Pauline Landers at home; brothers, Lennis Martin of Akron, Ohio, Cyril (sic:
Searrel) Martin of Phillipine Islands; sisters, Mrs. Marie Halley of Poca,
Mrs. Gladys Whittington of South Charleston; eight grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Gatens Funeral Home, the Rev. Sherman
Witt officiating with burial in Lilly Cemetery at Poca.

Cecile was diagnosed with "spinal arthritis on October 26, 1959.
